A litter of 3 born on the street took shelter in the drain since there was busy traffic going up and down since morning till evening. Their Mama made sure they were well fed, and protected in the drain. The pups could not climb out as it was a deep drain and mama thought this was the best way to keep them protected from the speeding traffic on the road. A young volunteer would feed them everyday and he says that they were the most adorable pups ever and whenever he would go to feed them, they would wag their tails and eat their food with a lot of interest. He ended up naming them the three musketeers – 1, 2, and 3.
Alas one day, there was a big thunderstorm accompanied by heavy rainfall. He rushed to the site of the drain but it was completely flooded. He shone the flashlight and there he found Mama holding one of the little ones in her mouth and bringing him to safety. Then the next and the next. And all 3 + Mama were safely out of the drain, but he saw that they were barely moving. He rushed them to Dr. Choudhary’s clinic where they received intensive treatment for the next few days. And recovered and survived. Seeing their ordeal on the road, he was very keen to see these pups safe in homes and that’s when they moved to a foster home where they are safe and sound. They ofcourse do not have Mama with them anymore but that’s one separation they had to face. Mama is now sterilized and recovering from her surgery, she will be put back in the area she lived and is familiar with, where she will live a life she is used to and can face, but now without the burden of giving birth to any more pups.
The puppies have been named now as Saraf, Fatima and Gadaffi and live in a farmhouse with other pet dogs that their Austrian foster family has. They are well socialized, healthy and happy pups.
